president’s message Celebrate Kappa within Kappa’s supporting environment. Like nature, Kappa’s diverse membership allows our organization to overcome challenges and obstacles that arise throughout the year. It is my hope that this spring, you take the time to reflect upon how Kappa has helped you become a better friend, leader and mentor. In addition, it is the perfect time for you to reaffirm your commitment to Kappa and discover ways you can continue to make a difference in the lives of others. H When you first pledged your name and interest to Kappa Kappa Gamma, it was the beginning of a lifelong journey that introduced you to new friends, volunteer experiences and leadership growth. You discovered it is not just something you do, but instead it helps you define who you are. Kappa Kappa Gamma is an organization of women, which seeks for every member throughout her life bonds of friendship, mutual support, opportunities for self-growth, respect for intellectual development, and an understanding of and an allegiance to positive ethical principles. In order for Kappa to remain an exemplary organization, we must always strive to have strong values such as integrity, respect for ourselves and one another, and to lead by example. By doing this, we will continue to attract and retain high-caliber members through Membership Recruitment. Sadly, there are still some within our organization who choose to participate in self-destructive behavior and hazing. Not only are these actions a poor reflection upon the individuals and chapters involved, they also make it difficult to attract outstanding women to Greek life and especially to Kappa. Our Kappa values need to transcend the peer pressures of college appy spring! The changing season brings a feeling of rejuvenation and an opportunity for us to grow life. We must make better choices and refocus on our core values of scholarship, leadership and friendship. A Convention year is the perfect opportunity to highlight the extraordinary accomplishments of our members, chapters and alumnae associations. This spring, as we begin to focus on our upcoming General Convention at the beautiful Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix, Ariz., we will be gearing up to share our successes and learn about ways to overcome our challenges. No person, chapter or alumnae association is perfect, but when we work together and support one another, we certainly can accomplish great things. Embrace the springtime as your chance to start anew and reflect upon how Kappa has bettered you as an individual and how you have made Kappa a stronger organization. I think you will discover that Kappa helps you blossom into a better leader, overcome obstacles and provides you with the warmth of friendship. When we gather in June, we can celebrate who we are and all that is Kappa. I look forward to seeing you soon!
