That is why we have a record number of households buying our memberships. The new program, which freezes the price at the old membership rate for two years, has been an overwhelming success. In 2008, we celebrated the “Year of the Frog.” This year, in collaboration with the World Associations of Zoos and Aquariums, we will launch the “Year of the Gorilla.” Given the Columbus Zoo’s long history of success with great apes, including gorillas, bonobos and orangutans, we look forward to highlighting this new program. This spring, we are also introducing “Animals on Safari,” a new animal show produced by renowned animal trainer Joel Slaven. With 80 - 100 animals performing specialized behaviors, this show is a must see! Throughout the performance, audience members are encouraged to be responsible pet owners. Additionally, the show reinforces the message that wild and exotic animals do not make good pets. “Animals on Safari”will premier in May.
